OTTAWA PROVIDES $1.66 MILLION FOR SAANICH PARKS, COMMONWEALTH PLACE

The roof over Saanich Commonwealth Place will get a major make-over and the 21 Saanich parks and playgrounds will be upgraded with the help of the federal government.
Sports Minister of State Gary Lunn said the federal government will provide $1.66 million towards the two projects — $1 million for the parks and playgrounds and $665,000 for the roof repairs that will include replacement of the original skylight, as well as repairs to the parapets, flat roof and interface between the skylight and sloped metal roof.
Both projects will be completed by March 31, 2011.
