The Warriors’ Trevor Bailey scored with one second remaining in regulation to send the game Sunday to an overtime where no team would score.
The Westside Warriors and the Victoria Grizzlies settled for one point each after a 3-3 tie Sunday afternoon in B.C. Hockey League action.
An exciting four-on-four overtime, followed by a three-on-three session that included a penalty shot by Victoria’s Wesley Myron stopped by Kevin Jebson, solved nothing.
Jebson made 39 saves in the game, including 23 in the third period and overtime. Richie Virtanen made 31 saves in the Victoria net. In a first this season, the Warriors were not awarded a power play in the game. Victoria was one-for-four on the man advantage.
Bailey’s goal was the only marker by either team in the third period and it was Bailey’s 200th point as a Warrior.
The Warriors earned five of six points on this three-game road trip.
Victoria had a good second period outshooting Westside 15-12 and outscoring them 3-1. Dustin Mowrey scored early in the period to tie game but Cam Reid responded 45 seconds later to restore the Warriors’ lead.
Mowrey scored again on a five-on-three power play, and Brandon Fagerheim scored with 40 seconds remaining in the frame send the Grizzlies to the dressing room with a 3-2 lead after two periods.
Grayson Downing scored the only goal of the first period when he banged his own rebound past Virtanen after a point shot by Isaak Berglund. The Warriors outshot Victoria 14-4 in the first period. — westsidewarriors.ca
